My Dome
Your personal world map powered by DomeEarth. See your people scattered across the globe, connected to you with true-distance arcs.
What is My Dome?
My Dome is an interactive fullscreen world map centered on you. Unlike a standard Google Maps view, your Dome uses WebGL-accelerated vector tile rendering to give you a smooth, Mapbox-quality map experience with full zoom from globe level down to individual streets.
Every person in your Dayze contacts who has a location appears as a marker on your Dome. VIP contacts are highlighted in gold, regular contacts in green. Distance rings radiate from your center showing 500 km, 1k, 2.5k, 5k, and 10k km bands — so you can see at a glance how your social world is distributed.
Great-circle arcs connect you to each person, showing the true shortest path across the curved Earth. Clusters intelligently group nearby people at low zoom levels so the map stays clean.
Features
Centered on You
The map is always centered on your location — everyone and everything is measured by true distance from you.
Your People, Mapped
People from your contacts with location data appear as markers. VIPs are highlighted in gold with labels.
Distance Rings
Concentric rings at 500 km, 1,000 km, 2,500 km, 5,000 km, and 10,000 km show how far away your people are.
Great-Circle Arcs
True geodesic paths connect you to each person — the actual shortest route across the globe.
WebGL Rendering
Powered by MapLibre GL JS with vector tiles — smooth 60fps, pinch-zoom, and detail at every zoom level.
Smart Clustering
When you have many people in one area, they cluster together. Tap a cluster to zoom in and see individuals.
How to Use
Add People
Go to People and add contacts. Include their city, country, or address in the location field.
Set Your Location
Tell Dayze Agent where you live, or update your profile location. This becomes the center of your Dome.
Open My Dome
Navigate to /dome or tap "Dayze Dome" on the home page to see your personal world map.
Under the Hood
Rendering: MapLibre GL JS (WebGL) — open-source Mapbox GL fork
Tiles: OpenFreeMap vector tiles (OpenStreetMap data, free, no API key)
Style: Custom DomeEarth dark theme with country labels, city names, roads, and buildings
Geocoding: Static lookup of 150+ major cities/countries + Nominatim fallback
Projections: Mercator base (standard for WebGL tiles) with DomeEarth distance rings overlay
Clustering: Built-in GeoJSON source clustering with dynamic radius
DomeEarth is a true-distance geospatial visualization platform. The Dome map in Dayze uses DomeEarth's distance ring algorithms and projection engine.
