Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 9, 2026

Our Privacy Promise

Dayze is built with privacy as a core principle. Your personal timeline is yours. We don't sell your data, we don't track your location, and we give you control over what you share and with whom.

1. What We Collect

We collect only what's necessary to provide Dayze's features:

Information You Provide

  • Account information: Email address, display name, and optional profile photo
  • Date of birth (optional): Used solely to calculate your day age—you choose whether to add this
  • Events and milestones: The dates, titles, and descriptions you create
  • Connections: Friends you choose to connect with on Dayze

Automatic Information

  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, and device type for compatibility
  • Usage analytics: How you interact with features (anonymized and aggregated)
  • Login timestamps: When you access your account for security purposes

2. What We DON'T Collect

We believe in data minimization. Here's what we explicitly do not collect or store:

  • ❌ Location data: We never track your GPS location or create location trails
  • ❌ Browsing history: We don't track what you do outside of Dayze
  • ❌ Contact lists: We never access or upload your phone contacts
  • ❌ Financial information: We don't store payment details on our servers
  • ❌ Biometric data: No fingerprints, face scans, or voice recordings
  • ❌ Third-party tracking pixels: No Facebook Pixel, no invasive ad trackers

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data for these specific purposes:

  • Provide the Service: Calculate your day age, display your timeline, sync your events
  • Enable connections: Let friends find you and share countdowns together
  • Improve Dayze: Understand which features are useful and fix bugs
  • Communicate: Send account-related emails (password resets, security alerts)
  • Protect the platform: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats

4. Who Can See Your Information

You control your visibility:

  • Public profile: Your display name and profile photo (if you set one) are visible to other users
  • Events: By default, your events are private. You choose what to share and with whom
  • Day age: Visible on your profile if you've added your birthday
  • Connections: Your follower/following lists are visible to you and those users

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Period.

We may share data only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Trusted partners who help us run Dayze (hosting, email delivery) under strict confidentiality agreements
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect safety
  • Business transfers: If Dayze is acquired, your data would transfer with the service (you'd be notified)

6. Data Security

We protect your data with:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive data
  • Regular security audits and monitoring
  • Strict access controls for our team

While we implement industry-standard protections, no system is 100% secure. We'll notify you promptly if a breach affects your data.

7. Your Rights and Controls

You have full control over your data:

  • Access: View all your data in your account settings
  • Edit: Update your profile, events, and preferences anytime
  • Delete: Remove individual events or delete your entire account
  • Export: Download your data (coming soon)
  • Visibility: Control who sees your events and profile information

8. Data Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account:

  • Your profile and events are removed immediately from public view
  • Data is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days
  • Some data may be retained longer if required by law

9. Children's Privacy

Dayze is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us immediately.

10. International Users

Dayze is operated from the United States. If you're accessing from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using Dayze, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Dayze evolves. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when changes were made.
