Marvin Minsky

Marvin Lee Minsky was an American cognitive and computer scientist and co-founder of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Media Lab and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He is widely regarded as one of the founders of the field of artificial intelligence. Virginia Giuffre alleged in court documents that Epstein directed her to have sexual contact with Minsky on his private island. Minsky died on January 24, 2016, before these allegations became public. An email from 2015 between MIT Media Lab staff suggested Minsky was offered a young woman on Epstein's island. The allegations against Minsky were part of the broader controversy surrounding MIT's relationship with Epstein, which included donations to the Media Lab facilitated by then-director Joi Ito.

Born in New York City. Graduated from Harvard in 1950 and earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton in 1954.

Minsky co-founded MIT's AI Laboratory. He received the Turing Award in 1969. Giuffre's allegations emerged after his death. The scandal also brought down MIT Media Lab director Joi Ito, who had accepted Epstein donations.

Married Gloria Rudisch, a physician. Three children.
