Maria Farmer is an American artist who was the first known person to report Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to the FBI, in 1996. Farmer met Epstein and Maxwell while working at an art gallery connected to Epstein. She alleged that Epstein sexually assaulted her at his New York townhouse and that Maxwell also groped her. In 1996, while staying at Les Wexner's Ohio estate (at Epstein's arrangement), she said Maxwell sexually assaulted her and Wexner's security prevented her from leaving. Despite filing a report with the FBI and NYPD, no action was taken for years. Farmer has been vocal about the failure of law enforcement to investigate her report, which predated the Palm Beach investigation by nearly a decade. Her younger sister Annie was also victimized by Epstein. Farmer was diagnosed with a brain tumor and has spoken about the health impacts of the trauma.
