Sarah Ransome

Sarah Ransome is a South African-born woman who alleged she was sexually trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell on Little Saint James, Epstein's private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, in 2006. Ransome said she was recruited at age 22 through a contact in New York who told her about modeling opportunities. She described being trapped on the island and repeatedly raped by Epstein, and that Maxwell managed the logistics. Ransome alleged she once tried to escape the island by swimming with a bag of clothes but was caught. She filed a civil lawsuit against Epstein and Maxwell that was settled in 2018. She has become an outspoken advocate for trafficking survivors and published a memoir detailing her experiences.
