Julie K. Brown

Julie K. Brown is an American investigative journalist at the Miami Herald. Her groundbreaking 2018 series "Perversion of Justice" investigated the lenient plea deal Jeffrey Epstein received in 2008, detailing how the non-prosecution agreement was kept secret from victims and how prosecutors gave extraordinary protections to Epstein and his co-conspirators. The series identified approximately 80 victims and brought renewed public attention to the case, directly contributing to Epstein's rearrest in July 2019. Brown spent over a year investigating the case, tracking down victims and reviewing thousands of court documents. Her work won the George Polk Award for Justice Reporting and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. She published a book about her investigation, "Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story," in 2021.

Worked as a journalist in South Florida for decades before the Epstein investigation. Had previously covered immigration and criminal justice.
